OSHA Joins Fight Against Coke Plant

Check out this article: http://www.reliableplant.com/Read/24458/Tonawanda-Coke-faces-OSHA-fine

With the exhaust failure of coke plants both in Erie and in Tonawanda, and with Erie's failure to report emissions from a bank of its ovens, you would think that OSHA also should look into the Erie Plant. Does anyone have any experience with OSHA? We should see if there is anything needed for them to get involved. I know of an employee at the Erie plant who has open sores on his arms which I was told is a result of Benzene exposure.

Is OSHA going to be hard to persuade to get involved in Erie the way that the EPA is? We are in a different zone than Tonawanda for the EPA. Even though the plants are both close to lake Erie and 100 miles apart, and also have the same owner, we need a different group from the EPA to look at this plant. It is almost like being in a different country. The EPA rules should be the same everywhere in the country. Yet here we are with almost identical problems caused by the same owner with the same type of plant, yet the EPA cannot combine resources to take action. Does this make any sense to anyone except for Crane, the Coke Plant's owner?
