Subject: Breakdown of GEIDC members in Erie
(Greater Erie Industrial Development Corp)
Bill and Bob,
Erie GEIDC board. I did a search on the members. Here is what I found. Try doing a search on the GEIDC. Can you find any meetings, members, or expenses for the group? How is it that this group deals with millions of public dollars with no oversight? GEIDC is the group that bought 191 acres of Hammermill property from the Casino through Greg Rubino for 4 million dollars. The Casino kept 15 acres of lake-front property. How much is that worth? Rubino originally bought the property for 2 million dollars and sold part of it for 4 million. Now the GEIDC has spent 11.8 million dollars to develop the property to sell back to Rubino for the Tire Incinerator. Look up Daryl Terella, he is the senior VP at Rubino's Passport company. He is also on the Board of the GEIDC and is their secretary. Is that part of the reason Rubino is getting the bargains through the GEIDC? Terella and Rubino were both with Baldwin to start out with.
Wouldn't you like to see where all the money GEIDC gets is being spent, and on whom? Are bids put out on work that they pay for? Who is getting the work? GEIDC claims they are a private company and don't have to talk to anyone. Again, try doing a search on this group. Under the new PA Freedom of Information Act, all of their records should be available. Are They?
Is it because of Michael Mead, who is also on the board, that Rubino and the Totally Enclosed, Clean (not visible), no emissions, will not harm people, animals, plants, or Lake Erie, Tire Incinerator getting all of the favorable coverage? Notice how the Times News has never done an actual in-depth study or report on the effects of the Worlds Largest Tire Incinerator being built in the city, close to the lake, next to schools and playgrounds. The Times hasn't published the full text of what the Erie Health Department has said, or what the Erie County Medical Society has told them. They haven't told people about our current rating of people getting cancer, or of people with asthma. Oh I forgot, they did say that almost all asthma is from poor people who smoke and have kids. It isn't because of the current air pollution.
The Mayor and County Exec are both on the GEIDC. Is that why neither of them have said anything against the Tire Burning? The mayor continues to block every attempt that could slow down or stop the Tire Burning, including an Air Monitoring Ordinance and appealing the Zoning Board's ruling. Who is he looking out for? Not the people that voted for him.
Here is a list of the 2008 GEIDC board. Note that the Mayor and County Executive are on the Board. There are also several township representatives, newspaper owners, developers, bankers, and others.

Since the merger, the Meads have gradually shifted day-to-day leadership of the newspaper outside the family. In August 2003, company Vice President James E. Dible was promoted to chief executive officer, president and publisher, succeeding the retiring Michael Mead, a grandson of the company founder. At about the same time, Michael Mead's first cousin, Edward M. Mead, stepped down as editor, turning over leadership of the newsroom to Executive Editor Rick Sayers. Both Edward and Michael Mead continue to serve on the company's board of directors, the former as its chairman emeritus.
